Imagine what it’s like to say goodbye to your wife and children without being able to tell them where you’re going or when you’ll return. Imagine being at home knowing that your husband is away in hostile surroundings doing a job filled with mortal danger and riddled with uncertainty. This is reality for the U.S. Navy SEALs and their families.

The Navy SEAL Foundation makes this separate more bearable, both for the courageous operators in harm’s way and for the families who must endure their frequent absences.

In good times or bad, the Navy SEAL Foundation has one mission: to provide immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families.

The Naval Special Warfare community received their hardest blow ever in August 2011, when 22 of their personnel were killed alongside soldiers from the 135th and 158th Aviation Regiment of the Army, airmen from the 24th Special Tactics Squadron of the Air Force, and a military working dog, when their helicopter was shot down in combat operations in Afghanistan.

Tragedy assistance is an integral part of the Foundation’s work, and just hours after Foundation leaders learned of the August tragedy in Afghanistan, staff, board members, and volunteers mobilized to face the sobering work of helping the families of the men who died.

"These warriors were at the tip of the spear in the global war on terror, exhibiting extraordinary skill, courage, and commitment," said Vice Adm. Albert "Bert" Calland, III (ret), USN, Chairman of the Navy SEAL Foundation. "When a warrior falls, the Foundation is prepared to take the burden of cost away from the families and help them with planning. The families will have enough to concern themselves with during this time."

Join an exclusive group of American patriots at this extraordinary Tribute for the U.S. Navy SEALs. The size of the event is limited; please make your arrangements today.

In memory of all the U.S. Navy SEALs and Naval Special Warfare support personnel killed in 2011

Within this small community of warriors, a total of 23 SEALs killed in one year is equivalent to the Navy losing three entire Navy vessels.
